We should all have a Daily Devotional Time with God. Here is an outline and some helpful hints if you need help getting
st
arted with you Daily Time alone with God.
1. Select a good time where you will be free from interruptions and able to concentrate on praying. I like
getting up early an extra half hour before others in the household or doing this just after everyone has gone to
bed. Early in the morning I believe helps you start the day with God and can be a good way to go about it.
2. Bring an expectant heart, your Bible, your Notebook or Devotional Diary. Other things helpful are Hymnal,
Devotional Book, Computer program to help explain Bible passages or Bible Concordance. Find a
comfortable spot.
3. Pray for protection, for God to protect this time with him from distractions and keep your thoughts on Him.
Ask Him to speak to you and teach you.
4. Ask for forgiveness for anything you are aware of or for Him to bring to your attention anything you need to
repent of or ask forgiveness for. Forgive anyone that comes to mind you need to forgive as well.
5. Praise. Keep a list of things that you praise God for and keep adding to it as your life goes along. Either
read your praise list or sing or read a Song or Hymnal to God. You might read a Psalm from the Bible. It can
be different each day. What ever you feel led to do that day. If you don't feel really like praising Him then just
read a Psalm or read what you have listed before on your praise list to remind you of something you praised
him for before. I love to use Praise Dance. Praise God with your whole body not just your thoughts and your
words. Sometimes stand up and raise your arms up to Him. Be creative.
6. Study Portion. Many choices here. You might do different things at different times. Read the Bible.  Can use
a Bible study book or daily devotional. Many choices here. You don't at this time in your quiet time get into
anything too long as that may cut into your time with God. Save a real long Bible Study for after the Quiet Time
with God.
7. Go through your prayer requests. You may not want to pray for all the same things every day and in your
devotional book list different things or persons on different days. Take your requests to God. Note answered
requests and progress or setbacks.
8. Listen to Him. This is important. Ask Him to speak to you and then be quiet for a few moments and give him
time to tell you something. He may lay someone on your heart or tell you something you need to change of
something you need to do or learn or area to grow in. Pay attention to not just audible words from God but be
sensitive to a whole entire thought he may give to you. Sometimes I find this is accompanied by a strong
feeling, such as sadness or happiness to go along with what he is telling me.
9. Make notes in your Devotional Notebook or Diary. Be sure to note any answered prayer requests, new
prayer requests or any changes. Note anything God is impressing on you or teaching you. Note any new
revelations or verses that jump out at you or have a special meaning today.
10. Closing. Thank God for this time together and help you do this daily and ask him to be with you during this
day and to protect you. Ask all in the
name of Jesus Christ our Lord and Savor. (If he is not your Lord and
Savior,
ask him to become your Lord and come into your heart. )
11. Go over your Bible Memory Verse. I suggest memorizing one verse each week.
Go out into your day with Thanksgiving, Praise and confidence that He is with you.
I hope this is helpful and you will join with him every day in a special time alone with God.
12. Go into your life and into your own ministry, God puts into your hands. Each day is an opportunity to serve
Him wherever you are. May God bless you richly as you grown in Him daily.

Praying Using Bible Verses / How to Pray for Someone
Here is an example of how to pray a Bible verse. You will find there are many verses that can be
used when praying for yourself or others. Here is the original Bible verse from

Ephesians:16-21
I pray that out of His glorious riches He may strengthen you with power through his spirit
in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that
you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the saints,
to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this
love that surpasses knowledge-that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of
God.

Here is how I pray it. Fill in the blank with the word I or someone's name you are praying for. You
can even put my name in and pray for me. Try it.

I pray that out of Your glorious riches Lord, You may strengthen __________ with power
through Your spirit in __________'s inner being, so that Christ may dwell in _________'s
heart through faith. And I pray that ____________, being rooted and established in love,

So what we are doing here is taking the prayer that Paul gave us that he prayed and using it as an
example to pray for either ourself or someone else. It is using the scripture and gives power to our
prayer. I love to pray using Bible verses. There are many,many that will work for prayers and some
are shorter. These are just a few examples. I keep a list of verses I love to use in prayer. You can
make your own list. Here is another one of my favorites.

Psalm 32:8
I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you and watch
over you.

Here is how I would pray this verse.

Lord please instruct __________ and teach __________ in the way (he, she or I) should
go; Lord please counsel __________ and watch over __________.

Some other examples of verses to use to model your prayers after are:
